Intense!

There's been a murder and a shooting in Snow, so far. It's got all the big dramatic pieces: lust, old love, political turmoil, suicide, murder. But, it's written very flatly. No one in the book has much of an emotional reaction to these events. This might be b/c it was translated from Turkish (???) - or perhaps it's simply the writer's style. Regardless, I wish the characters had more of an emotional connection to the events...You will all have to let me know if you feel similarly!
